It is a psychological approach which teaches people, skills to cope with anxiety and stress.

Also it is all about understanding where your stress is coming from, and finding ways to alleviate it, and also to manage your life so that it becomes easier and much more enjoyable.

>> Alleviate stress with laughter therapy: Click here

Stress management, when practised regularly is most effective. It is the application of methods to either reduce stress or increase tolerance to it. It is your ability to maintain control when situations, people, and events make excessive demands on you. Managing stress is a key to happiness. It is your ability to effectively manage the pressures you feel at work and at home. It is also about knowing your limits.

A complete nutritional approach, combined with proper fitness maintenance and stress management is most important. Here’s why managing your stress is important: stress wears your body out and can be harmful in the long run.

Workplace stress management is a great way of making sure that you can get through the workday in peace and then go home with little or no stress weighing on your mind. The key to stress management is to determine the right amount of stress that will give you energy, ambition, and enthusiasm versus the wrong amount which can harm your health and well-being.

One of the first rules of effective stress management is positive thinking and behavior. Exactly how exercise helps in relaxation and stress management is not clear. At work, stress management is a breeze when you let employees take on tasks that fit their skill and interest. Another strategy for stress management is to live in the moment. Fortunately, stress management is largely a learnable skill.

Stress

Stress is your response to any physical, emotional or intellectual demands. Stress management includes following a healthy diet, getting regular exercise, and making time for uninterrupted relaxation.

>> Find uninterrupted relaxation with relaxation CD’s

Nutrition is one area where stress can be reduced most effectively, because we eat every day at least 3 times a day, so even the smallest of changes could bring about significant benefits. Stress can and does also result from unbalanced and inappropriate nutrition; excessive use of socially acceptable intoxicants; suppressive drugs and vaccinations; environmental toxins; negative emotions; lack of physical exercise; genetic factors; and improper body alignment.

>> Change your diet, change your stress

Stress is a normal part of life. It is an unavoidable consequence of life and it is not something exclusive of the human beings, because the animals also have it. Stress is the answer of the body in response to external conditions that are perceived as dangerous, worrying or irritating.

Symptoms of stress can be either behavioral or physical. And some people who have a chronic illness may find that the symptoms of their illness flare up under an overload of stress.

All you need to do is relax, get control of that stress. More recently, however, it has been argued that external circumstances do not have any intrinsic capacity to produce stress, but instead their effect is mediated by the individual’s perceptions, capacities, and understanding. The model breaks the stressor-stress link by proposing that if stressors are perceived as positive or challenging rather than a threat, and if the stressed person is confident that he or she possesses adequate rather than deficient coping strategies, stress may not necessarily follow the presence of a potential stressor.

The model conceptualizes stress as a result of how a stressor is appraised and how a person appraises his/her resources to cope with the stressor. The model proposes that stress can be reduced by helping stressed people change their perceptions of stressors, providing them with strategies to help them cope and improving their confidence in their ability to do so.

>> Change how you see stress with the latest Law of Attraction techniques

Anxiety

Anxiety is stress, tension and strain brought onto one’s body and mind. Anxiety can be broken down into two types: Somatic -sweaty palms, pain in neck or sick to the stomach & cognitive. Anxiety may be due to not feeling that you are not in control. These symptoms may manifest themselves psychologically as irritability, anxiety, impaired concentration, mental confusion, poor judgment, frustration and anger.

We are aware that people that suffer from Anxiety Disorders have problems mixing in social gatherings and I myself have found that online chat, forums and even voice chat can be an excellent way to deal with anxieties, because you avoid one of the big things many people with social anxiety are afraid of: Meeting people. Stress-related disorders include a broad array of conditions, including depression, anxiety, dissatisfaction, fatigue, tension, aggression, substance abuse, impairment in concentration and memory problems.

Note: Tranquilizers, antidepressants, and anti-anxiety medications account for one fourth of all prescriptions written in the USA.

Exercise can help to relieve stress, tension, and anxiety. By expelling your excess negative emotions and adrenaline through physical activity, you can enter a more relaxed, calm state of being from which to deal with the issues and conflicts that are causing your anxiety.

Exercise is one of the most important coping medium to combat anxiety and stress. Exercise may trigger a neurophysiologic surge of adrenaline or endorphins- that produces an antidepressant effect in some, an anti anxiety effect in others, and a general sense of “feeling better” in most. Frequent exercise is an effective treatment for anxiety and, according to some research, is as effective as psychotherapy in treating mild or moderate depression.

Other researchers have found that light exercise, such as walking or swimming, decreases anxiety just as effectively as vigorous jogging does. (I.e. if you suffer from physical symptoms of anxiety such as gastrointestinal problems, sweating, palpitations, pacing back and forth, etc).

On the other hand, if your anxiety is caused by psychological causes such as worrying, difficulty concentrating or intrusive thoughts, you may find more relief from mental exercises such as meditation, imagery, prayer or other form of mental relaxation.

>> Learn how to meditate. Click here

Exercising too much may lead to a state of fatigue characterized by anxiety or depression, insomnia, and a loss of interest in personal life.

Symptoms

Symptoms of stress can be either behavioral or physical. Symptoms of despair and hopelessness may be experienced in acute stress disorder and may be sufficiently severe and persistent to meet criteria for a major depressive episode. Symptoms of Acute Stress Disorder are experienced during or immediately after the trauma, last for at least 2 days, and either resolve within 4 weeks after the conclusion of the traumatic event or the diagnosis is changed.

These symptoms may manifest themselves psychologically as irritability, anxiety, impaired concentration, mental confusion, poor judgment, frustration and anger. Common physical symptoms of stress include: muscle tension, headaches, low back pain.

Most, however tend to ignore the problem as they are unaware of the symptoms. If the stress symptoms persist during many days, it is reasonable to go to see a doctor or to request psychological support.

Lifestyle

A commitment to live a healthier lifestyle should never take a back seat. In the alternative, if stress is more the result of one’s lifestyle, eliminating the stress causing factors and/or gaining healthful insight on how to alleviate stress the right way might just be the best thing for an individual to do for themselves.

For these reasons, stress management is vital to being successful at work and living a healthy lifestyle and it is steadily increasing in importance due to today’s busy and demanding lifestyles.

Stress, in the negative sense, is the root cause of all problems.

Stress, in the positive sense, is the galvanizing force for all creative and constructive activities.

Stress relief has to be achieved– it is both art and science!

>> See: Stress Relief With The Laf Doctor

When you manage the stress, the negative tendencies fall apart. And when this happens, relief is the natural outcome.

You manage stress relief over any particular issue. Soon you are upset over another issue, which means that your mind requires further tuning. Any temporary gain is no gain at all. You don’t like sending the vehicle to the garage for repairs every other day. You seek the advice of the mechanic for a permanent solution. Stress relief measures that you adopt, must chisel out a new personality of you, from your existing confusing set up.

First of all, you have to scan your personality in an impartial manner- observe yourself from a distance.

How does stress affect your health? look at how you and your body feels.

Be not afraid to own your shortcomings. It is time to remove the damaged bricks in your personality and body and replace them with new ones! Analyze the activities of your day and begin the process of building your skills, one by one. Do not try so many things simultaneously.

It is true, that the fast pace of the modern materialistic world, gives rise to various types of stress. But we can not walk back. We have to catch up with the times.

Stress relief is not in inaction, but participating in the action in an intelligent manner, by absolutely being clear about what to do and what not to do things.

For that, you have to develop your time management concepts, information and leadership skills and engage yourself in practical creativity . Let the mind go wherever it is necessary, and stop wandering aimlessly.

Once that smooth and even level is achieved, all the related functions like problem solving, decision making and communications skills become easy. You will also find remarkable improvement in your memory.

Stress varies in degree from individual to individual. So, the stress relief measures can not be the same for all. The response for any particular situation varies. This apart, stress need not carry the connotation of sadness or ill health always. A happy event may also cause you tremendous stress. Winning a huge lottery, will give you lots of stress, but relief for your creditors!

Let the stress relief measures that you adopt, lead you to become a cheerful personality. Take it, stress is a part of life. Life is to be lived in its trials & tribulations, in its duty and beauty!

What is GAD?

If you are prone to worry about every day events, you could be suffering from a condition called Generalized Anxiety Disorder or GAD as it is more commonly known. Those suffering from this type of disorder find they cannot stop themselves worrying about a range of things from health and money to friends or work. The worrying becomes almost compulsive and it begins to take over the life of the sufferer affecting their relationships and social activities. It comes to dominate their ability to function by causing fear and dread. Click here for more information on What is Anxiety?.

Symptoms of GAD

Anxiety can affect the logical thought process of a person leading to a variety of symptoms which can manifest themselves physically from any or all of the following: irritability, nausea, headaches, sweating, restlessness, tiredness, frequent urination, insominia and being easily alarmed.

Causes of anxiety are not known fully, but there are various factors that contribute to its development, and these factors are brain chemistry, genetics and environmental stress. If you have a family history of anxiety or depression you may be more likely to suffer from it and GAD has been linked to abnormal levels of neurotransmitters in the brain. These are the chemical messengers passing the information between nerve cells, and when they get out of balance, the brain does not receive messages properly. This will change the brains reaction to different situations ans thus cause anxiety.

If there has been a traumatic event such as a death of a loved one, divorce, trauma or if there is a high level of stress from a job, it may cause the onset of anxiety. Click here for more information on Anxiety Treatments.

Treatment of Anxiety

Anxiety is normally treated by psychiatrists or other mental health professionals like psychologists. These professional are trained to diagnose and treat any kind of mental illnesses. The treatments for anxiety may include cognitive-behavioral therapy and the use of drugs. If GAD has started to interfere with everyday functioning, medications can be very useful. These may include tranquillizers to relax and calm the patient.

A natural method of relaxing which can benefit anxiety disorders is laughter therapy

Cognitive-behavioral therapy helps people by recognizing the factors that cause the troubled feelings, and then change the thought and behavior patterns to deal with them. The therapy helps by having a realistic approach towards worries, and limiting the distorted thinking.

GAD cannot be prevented, but there are some things that can be done to lessen or control the symptoms. This would include cutting back on the consumption of coffee, tea, cocoa and cola. Talk to your pharmacist or doctor before taking any over the counter herbal remedies or medicines, as they may contain the chemicals that increase the anxiety symptoms. Eat a well-balanced diet, and exercise regularly. If you have suffered a traumatic experience you may need to seek the support of a counelor.

Stress is an unavoidable fact of life. We all experience it to a greater or lesser extent. Some of it is positive, as in sports competition stress, and most of it is negative and has a detrimental effect to health

Stress is the body’s reaction to any change that requires an adjustment or response. The body reacts to these changes with physical, mental, and emotional responses.

At times of stress what I tend to do is listen to a meditation CD or download and it really helps me to relax. One of my favourite sources is Brain Music Power which has some instant meditation, relaxation and stress reduction CD’s

Stress is a normal part of life. Many events that happen to you and around you and many things that you do yourself to put stress on your body. You can experience stress from your environment, your body, and your thoughts.

Every person has worries and things they could possibly fret over as we may see people with insecure jobs and without a steady income. Stress is inevitably a witness to the truth also in that it is here regardless of how wonderful someone’s life may seem to outsiders. A small amount of stress is normal and there’s little to do to avoid it. However as it increases, with the known effects of stress on the body, eliminating continual worry is necessary to guarantee a long and healthy life.

So why not turn your stress into joy? seems impossible? Take a look at one way of doing just that and learn the secrets of how to make it happen. It IS possible to change stress into Joy . Joy is probably one of the best de-stressors out there (or should I say ‘in there’ because it is something inside of you waiting to be discovered)and definitely good for your health.

Stress is one of the main contributing factors to heart disease and many individuals do not realize this. They are generally the people who watch their fat intake and exercise regularly. Whereas one of the largest effects of stress on the body is seen in heart disease. So more needs to be done to erase that stress. A person can be the picture of health, but if they are constantly worrying there is a good chance they may suffer a heart attack at some point and maybe all of a sudden, without apparent warning.

Another stressor in many peoples lives is their sleep pattern which causes stress effects on the body. People who worry a great deal often can’t sleep and one of the main effects of stress on the body is also depression. A depressed person often has disrupted rest patterns. Finding a way to cope with the stress can mean a full night’s sleep which helps in numerous ways during the day including increased concentration and positive mood shifts. Finding a way to relax enough to sleep can also help to reduce stress. It can be a two way thing.

Hypnosis CD’s or downloads for relaxation and insomnia are generally pretty effective and definitely worth a try.

Stress also becomes harmful when people use alcohol, tobacco, or drugs to try to relieve their stress. Unfortunately, instead of relieving the stress and returning the body to a relaxed state, these substances tend to keep the body in a stressed state and cause more problems. Researchers have found that many times stress can be relieved by self hypnosis. It can be done by listening to calming music or self hypnosis CDs, while sitting or laying in a dark room. Hypnosis can do wonders for a person’s state of mind.

Immune system problems have also been linked to emotional stress. If a person is a constant worrier they may be prone to immune problems. laughter can relieve stress and in the process it boosts the immune system too.

Try this social site for some upliftment, inspiration, fun and laughter … makes for good medicine! www.Lovelaughter.ning.com

Dealing with stress can come in many different forms and it depends largely on the source of the problem and the individual. Unless addressed it can actually result in being more susceptible to things like colds and the flu. When we really start to see how far reaching the effects of stress on the body are it’s easy to see why it’s so important to try and curb levels of stress. And issues that seem large and looming can often be dealt with by discussing them. Having a “stress buddy”, someone to talk to about common stress helps a lot.

In order to relieve some stress, have a pet. To help bring stress levels way down, taking a drive or physically removing yourself from a stressful situation is also helpful. Most importantly though staying calm in an uncalm situation is helpful. Facing the issue head-on and taking control of it guarantees that any effects of stress on the body will soon be a thing of the past.

Sress and other emotional situations can be helped by self hypnosis. Call a hypnotist near you or visit http://www.abetteryouhypnosis.com. By crizza reyes

The dictionary defines stress as “the failure of a person to respond appropriately to a situation that develops in his/her life.” This stress can be a real situation or could just exist in the person’s mind.

Whether or not it is real, the brain reacts in the same way and produces a state of alarm in the body by producing more hormones than are necessary to prepare the body for “fight or flight.”

There are three stages of stress in the way the body reacts when it feels threatened in some way. The first stage is alarm, which results in the release of adrenaline, as well as the activation of the HPA axis, which produces cortisol. The second stage is resistance if the stressor exists for a period of time.

This is the body’s way of coping with stress. When it has to keep this up for a long time, the result is exhaustion, which is the third stage. At this point the body has depleted its resources for dealing with stress. This is when we are most aware of the symptoms of stress as it manifests itself in other ways, such as headache, stomach problems, mood changes, or depression, to list some examples.

Negative and positive experiences can cause stress. There are facets of the environment that can place the body in a state of stress as well, such as exposure to sounds and scents that cause unpleasant sensations, and situations such as lack of food and proper housing.

Everyone experiences stress at some time or another in their lives. It may be a one-time event or something that continues for a prolonged period. The effect that stress has on your life and the severity of the symptoms depend to a great extent on the ways in which you manage the stress or reduce it.

We commonly think of stress in our lives as being harmful and of having negative effects. However stress can be beneficial when you develop ways of managing stress properly. When you have a problem to solve, you can benefit from the stress because it encourages you to seek solutions and redirect your thinking. You need to have a healthy attitude towards stress in order to face new situations with an open mind.

For many people, past experiences have a direct bearing on how well they are at managing stress in their lives. Those who have been rejected many times will no doubt have low self-confidence and their way of managing stress will be to shy away from any situation that they perceive as being stressful for them.

This type of behavior, when it persists over a long period of time, can lead to more serious psychological problems and phobias. Chronic stress can lead to a breakdown in relationships, leading to divorce and addiction to drugs and alcohol, overeating/weight gain, or extreme weight loss.

When you recognize the symptoms of stress in your life, you should begin to look for ways in which you can cope with stress. If this is not possible, then you need to look for ways of managing it or for solutions to help you get relief. Taking up a new hobby that will get your mind off the situation, going for a walk, having a laugh with friends – all of these are great ways of managing your stress so that you stay healthy.
