Stress Health Effects

Stress is an unavoidable fact of life. We all experience it to a greater or lesser extent. Some of it is positive, as in sports competition stress, and most of it is negative and has a detrimental effect to healthstress symptoms

Stress is the body’s reaction to any change that requires an adjustment or response. The body reacts to these changes with physical, mental, and emotional responses.

Stress is a normal part of life. Many events that happen to you and around you and many things that you do yourself to put stress on your body. You can experience stress from your environment, your body, and your thoughts.

Every person has worries and things they could possibly fret over as we may see people with insecure jobs and without a steady income. Stress is inevitably a witness to the truth also in that it is here regardless of how wonderful someone’s life may seem to outsiders. A small amount of stress is normal and there’s little to do to avoid it. However as it increases, with the known effects of stress on the body, eliminating continual worry is necessary to guarantee a long and healthy life.

Stress is one of the main contributing factors to heart disease and many individuals do not realize this. They are generally the people who watch their fat intake and exercise regularly. Whereas one of the largest effects of stress on the body is seen in heart disease. So more needs to be done to erase that stress. A person can be the picture of health, but if they are constantly worrying there is a good chance they may suffer a heart attack at some point and maybe all of a sudden, without apparent warning.

Another stressor in many peoples lives is their sleep pattern which causes stress  effects on the body. People who worry a great deal often can’t sleep and one of the main effects of stress on the body is also depression. A depressed person often has disrupted rest patterns. Finding a way to cope with the stress can mean a full night’s sleep which helps in numerous ways during the day including increased concentration and positive mood shifts. Finding a way to relax enough to sleep can also help to reduce stress. It can be a two way thing.

Stress also becomes harmful when people use alcohol, tobacco, or drugs to try to relieve their stress. Unfortunately, instead of relieving the stress and returning the body to a relaxed state, these substances tend to keep the body in a stressed state and cause more problems. Unless addressed it can actually result in being more susceptible to things like colds and the flu. When we really start to see how far reaching the effects of stress on the body are it’s easy to see why it’s so important to try and curb levels of stress.  And issues that seem large and looming can often be dealt with by discussing them. Having a “stress buddy”, someone to talk to about common stress helps a lot.

In order to relieve some stress, have a pet. To help bring stress levels way down, taking a drive or physically removing yourself from a stressful situation is also helpful.  Most importantly though staying calm in an uncalm situation is helpful. Facing the issue head-on and taking control of it guarantees that any effects of stress on the body will soon be a thing of the past.
